The go ahead to enable the process to sell down some shares in the Port of Tauranga, development of a new Regional Park and a green light for an increase in funding for community groups are among key decisions made by Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council in its Long Term Plan which was adopted today.

Over the past 30 years, Pukekauri Farms’ Burke family has been working in partnership with Regional Council to help restore and protect the health of freshwater in the region.

Two new high-tech, live-feed cameras have been installed by Coastguard Whakatāne with funding support from Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

Construction on a 1.25km section of Rangitāiki River stopbank next to Thornton Beach Road is now complete. This upgrade is part of Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council’s ongoing efforts to maintain flood defences around the region. 

Thirty-one school sustainability projects around the rohe are about to get underway, thanks to Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council’s School Sustainability and Resilience Fund (SSRF). 

Stage One of Project Future Proof has reached another milestone, with the concreting of the floodwalls to begin early next month.
